From November 26 to 29, the 14th edition of the National Environment Congress, CONAMA 2018, took place in the Municipal Conference Center of Madrid.

The Congress is organized by the Conama Foundation, an independent, non-profit Spanish organization. Conama, in line with ODS-17, acts as a sustainability hub in Spain, with the mission of contributing to create solid partnerships between governments, the private sector and civil society to achieve sustainable development.

This year’s edition has been presented under the motto Rumbo 20.30, which aims to launch a message to the whole society to accelerate the transition towards sustainability and thus meet the challenges that commit Spain within the framework of the 2030 Agenda of the UN and the EU objectives for 2020, 2030 and 2050. Conama has been attended by more than 8,700 visitors, 1,000 speakers and 124 activities have been organized.

The themes of the congress program have been:

  • Energy, efficiency and climate change.
  • Mobility.
  • Urban renewal.
  • Rural development.
  • Biodiversity
  • Water.
  • Environmental quality
  • Waste.
  • Economy and Society.

For each of these themes, different work groups, training activities, workshops, networking and an exhibition of stands have been carried out. The activities of the main program were organized by an open committee with representatives of sponsoring entities and collaborators of the third sector as well as invited experts.

Bioazul was at this edition of Conama on November 27 and 28, where Pilar Zapata presented and explained the Water2REturn project.

27th November – Informative stand. This first day there was an informative stand, located in the European project space Conama Conecta, where the attendees were able to approach and learn about the characteristics of this project thanks to Pilar, who was speaking with those interested people. Of this first day highlights the large volume of attendees gathered there, in addition to the number of stakeholders who came to the stand.

28th November – Water2REturn presentation. One of the activities carried out within Conama was the creation of working groups with which training sessions, presentations or workshops were held. For this second day, Pilar presented the Water2REturn project within working group 12: Water and Circular Economy, specifically, in the third part of the briefing on innovative experiences in water and circular economy.

Conama has become, undoubtedly, an essential appointment in the calendar for all those aware of the environment.
