Events September – November 2021

The end of this 2021 is approaching where little by little we have returned to normality, managing to attend and participate in face-to-face events both nationally and internationally. For this reason, we want to review the events in which the Bioazul team has participated since the return of the summer. Here is a sample of it:

01.09.2021 AGRI-FOOD ECONOMY CONGRESS

On September 1, the XIII Congress of Agrifood Economics took place in Murcia, the meeting point for researchers and professionals of the agri-food economy, rural areas and the environment. Our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participated in this congress within the session dedicated to “Innovative experiences of circular economy in the sustainable management of water for irrigation”. In it she presented the success stories of our projects SUWANU EUROPE, Water2REturn, RichWater and FIT4REUSE.

10.09.2021 SUMMER COURSE SBN AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The International University of Andalusia together with the collaboration of IUCN, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, organized from September 6 to 10, 2021 the summer course “Solutions Based on Nature and Circular Economy against climate change in the province of Malaga “. Our CEO Antonia Lorenzo was one of the speakers in Session 2: The SbN Málaga Cluster model. SBN Good Practices in the province of Malaga, framed within the conference on Friday, September 10, where he presented our Connecting Nature project.

08-09.09.2021 11TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT

On September 8 and 9, the 11th International Conference on Environmental Engineering and Management took place, dedicated to discussing environmental problems and sustainability. Our CEO Antonia Lorenzo, together with Pilar Zapata, presented at this congress a poster about our PAVITR project, dedicated to the treatment and reuse of wastewater in INDIA.

09-10.09.2021 U-ECO FINAL MEETING

After two years of work, our U-Eco project, on training in circular economy, came to an end with a meeting with all the members of the consortium on September 9 and 10 in Brussels. Our colleagues Sara Hernández and Pilar Zapata attended this final event where they shared the main results of the project and the possible lines of work to be developed in the future.

24.09.2021 FIRST TRASNATIONAL MEETING INCEPPP

On September 24, 2021, the first international meeting with all the partners of the InCEPPP project took place in Malaga. This first contact served to discuss the methodology to be followed in this project on circular economy in public and private procurement. Our colleagues Sara Hernández and Gerardo González were the ones who received the rest of the partners in our office in Malaga.

29-30.09.2021 GREENCITIES 2021

On September 29 and 30, the 12th edition of Greencities, the Urban Intelligence and Sustainability Forum, took place at FYCMA (Malaga) where we presented our Connecting Nature project and the application of Nature-Based Solutions in cities. From Bioazul we have once again participated with a stand dedicated to our Connecting Nature project where we received great interest from individuals, companies and public administrations.

30.09.2021 SMART AGIRFOOD 2021

On September 30 and October 1, the Bioazul team attended the Smart Agrifood Summit fair that took place at FYCMA (Malaga). Within this program of activities, our CEO Antonia Lorenzo inaugurated the Water and Sustainability Forum together with Gonzalo Delacámara, researcher at IMDEA Water, where they held an interesting colloquium on innovation in the circular economy and on the reuse of water applied to the food industry.

On the other hand, within the exhibition area of ​​the fair we had a stand dedicated to our Water2REturn project where we presented the system that we have developed and implemented in Matadero del Sur (Salteras, Seville) for the recovery and recycling of nutrients, converting wastewater into agronomic products. That same day we organized as a parallel event to the fair, the Workshop Water2REturn Spain with the aim of publicizing the Water2REturn system as well as presenting the quality and effectiveness of the resulting agronomic products.

30.09.2021 AINIA SEMINAR

To give visibility to various actions that are being carried out both in Spain and in other parts of Europe related to Circular Economy in the agri-food industry, AINIA, an organization that offers solutions in innovation and technology, organized on September 30 the 4th International Technical Seminar: Water Management of the Agrifood Industries where our colleague Alejandro Caballero presented our Water2REturn project.

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 2021 EIT FOOD FAN ACCELERATOR

During the months of September and October 2021, several FAN Bilbao Accelerator events took place. Within this EIT Food program there are several startups that are assigned consortium mentors according to their needs. In addition, different conferences (virtual and physical) are organized in which, in addition to receiving the advice of their mentors, they have the possibility of learning from key guests of the agrifood sector and being in direct contact with investors and corporations. Likewise, within these events they can present their solutions individually through an elevator pitch. Our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participates as a mentor within this program.

04.10. 2021 INNOWISE SCALE COMPETITION

On October 4, 2021, the Innowise Scale was held, a competition within our “Water Scarcity” project to seek innovative solutions to face water scarcity in southern Europe. For three months, the 20 selected companies have worked on three different challenges (supply, infrastructure and agriculture) to present the best solution in the competition where Agrow Analytics, Fibsen and Bluephage were the winners.

06.10.2021 FRUIT ATTRACTION 2021

From October 4 to 6, 2021, the Fruit Attraction Fair was held in Madrid, the largest professional event in the fruit and vegetable sector. Our colleague Rafael Casielles attended this fair where he participated on the last day as a speaker at the Smart Water Energy Conference dedicated to saving water and improving the production and quality of fruit and vegetables through the implementation of efficient irrigation technologies. There he had the pleasure of presenting Bioazul technologies for water reuse, as well as some of our success stories.

That same day he was also invited to the round table organized by Cajamar Innova to discuss “New technologies and unconventional water sources“.

06.10.2021 INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE

On October 6 and 7, the International Seminar “Experiences and local action plans and innovation for climate resilience in Andalusia and Central America from a gender perspective” took place in Malaga. Within this event organized by Paz y Desarrollo with the collaboration of Social Climate and Trenzando Redes, our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participated as a speaker at the table aimed at discussing the replicability and parallels between Andalusia and Central America from a gender perspective.

08.10.2021 SEA-EU VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

SEA-EU, the European University of the Seas, organized a virtual workshop on October 8 with the aim of fostering collaboration between SEA-EU knowledge agents and economic actors in the province of Cádiz so that they could all explore the possibility of project proposals sets in the Call Horizon 2021-2027, as well as other calls of the European Union. Bioazul participated in this webinar as a consultant in charge of organizing this event.

21.10.2021 SOCRATCES CSP TECHNOLOGY DAY

The CSP ERANET and SOCRATCES project consortium organized the CSP TECHNOLOGY DAY on October 21, a webinar that took place during the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), with the aim of presenting the achievements and future challenges of Solar Concentration Plants and learn about upcoming financing opportunities in the sector. Our colleague Angela Magno was who moderated and presented this webinar as manager of the SOCRATCES project.

28.10.2021 6TH MEETING MÁLAGA VIVA

On October 28, the 6th Málaga VIVA Meeting was held in Malaga, organized by the Malaga Provincial Council, where our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participated in the dialogue table on Next Generation challenges. In addition, during this event the new delivery of the Málaga Viva Awards took place, which recognizes good practices against climate change in the province of Málaga.

03.11.2021 E-BREAKFAST WITH AQUACULTURE

On November 3, EIT Food organized a webinar entitled “e-Breakfast with…” where our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participated in this meeting to talk about our AquaSure project aimed at improving the sustainability of small farmers in Valle del Cauca in Colombia.

04.11.2021 5TH MÁLAGA SME OF THE YEAR AWARDS

On November 4, the Malaga 2021 Award to the SME of the year took place, an event organized by the Chamber of Malaga and Banco Santander, where Bioazul received the prize for “Digitization and Innovation”, an award that was picked up by our CEO Antonia Lorenzo.

23-24.11.2021 SECOND TRANSNATIONAL MEETING INCEPPP

On November 23 and 24, the consortium of our InCEPPP project organized its second international meeting that took place in Bratislava (Slovakia). Our colleagues Sara Hernández and Gerardo González attended where they debated the publication of the circular public procurement methodology, and planned the next steps focused on “training the trainers”.

24.11.2021 SOCRATCES FINAL INFO DAY

Our SOCRATCES project ends at the end of the year and for this reason the consortium organized a final event on November 24 to present the main results of the project and explain how these 36 months of the project had been. At this event, our colleague Angela Magno presented the innovation management plan developed for the project and the dissemination strategies implemented.

24.11. 2021 WEBINAR WATER AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY CAJAMAR INNOVA

On November 24, Cajamar Innova organized a webinar dedicated to water and the circular economy where our CEO Antonia Lorenzo participated as a speaker to discuss financing opportunities at the European level in this sector and for her part, our colleague Pilar Zapata presented our Water2REturn project as example of circular economy in slaughterhouse waste management.

25.11.2021 WEBINAR ASOZUMOS

The National Association of Juice Manufacturers (ASOZUMOS) held a webinar on November 25 under the title “Advancing together in the achievement of the SDGs in an environment of challenges” where our colleague Álvaro Pallares  presented examples of water reuse technologies for the food industry.
