INEXTVIR project meeting in Murcia

From the 4th to the 8th of April the Network Meeting 5 and School 3 of our project INEXTVIR took place in Águilas, Murcia (Spain).  The INEXTVIR project works on training researchers for the sequencing of virome in crops.

This fifth networking meeting was the first face to face meeting after the pandemic where all the partners could present all the work carried out in the different works of packages during these 3 years.

The 14 PhD students also had the opportunity of presenting their individual research projects to the supervisors and the rest of the partners. The consortium organizes to them some training activities where they had the opportunity of visiting the Syngenta Field station in Almeria, a agricultural crop cooperative and also the Experimental station Las Palmerillas, a technological center of reference in Mediterranean intensive agriculture.

During these days the School 3 also took place. This activity targeted for the PhD students consisted on a workshop where different speakers presented scientifics skills. The speakers were Jose Luis Alonso Prados, Scientific Director of Phytosanitary Products Unit in the National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology, INIA who talked about new data requirements for active substances and plant protection products based on microorganism; Gonzaga Ruiz de Gauna, manager of BIOVEGEN, Spanish Technology Platform for Plant Biotechnology, who presented the Spanish public private partnership in plant biotechnology; Françoise Petter from EPPO who made his prrsentation about the plant health; and Ana Canda, representative from Knowledge Transfer Office at Spanish National Research Council (VATC-CSIC) who offered a guide for the beginners about how your company. The last speaker was Jos Van Boxtel, Senior Scientist at Origin Prime in California (USA) who made this presentation via online.

The last day was dedicated to complementary skills where the partner DELPHY talked about all the steps taken from a governmental organization to a Nasdaq listed company.

This week was a great opportunity for all the partners and PhD students to know more about their works and research and make synergies.
