3rd SUWANU EUROPE Workshop: Tools for the use of reclaimed water in agriculture

Reading time: 2

At Bioazul we are happy to announce that this year we are going to organize the 3rd edition of the SUWANU EUROPE Workshop: Tools for the use of reclaimed water in agriculture.

SUWANU EUROPE is one of the projects that we lead within the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission and which consists of a thematic network that focuses its efforts on supporting and promoting the use of reclaimed water in agriculture. This network is made up of different European regions that in the case of Spain coincide with the Andalusian community.

In September 2019, the Spanish consortium of SUWANU EUROPE, made up of Bioazul, the University of Córdoba, ASERSA, Fenacore and CECU, organized the first participatory workshop in Córdoba and which we completed with a second edition held at the TROPS facilities (Vélez-Málaga ) in October, which had more than 100 attendees among authorities, irrigators, wastewater treatment operators, sanitation companies, researchers, agricultural cooperatives and innovation actors.

During this year we have worked to collect the needs of the sector and respond to your needs with the aim of continuing to interact, support you in the use of reclaimed water and continue to debate the needs of the sector. The 3rd SUWANU EUROPE Workshop will take place on September 25 as a parallel event to the SMART AGRIFOOD SUMMIT, the fair on innovation and entrepreneurship in the agri-food sector that is held annually in the city of Malaga.

In this new edition we will talk about key issues for reuse such as the regulatory framework, treatment and regeneration technologies or economic aspects. We will present the REGENERA Plan (Andalusian Regional Action Plan for the Use of Regenerated Water) and special attention will be paid to the elaboration of Risk Management Plans, one of the requirements of the new European Regulation on minimum requirements for the reuse of water in agriculture (EU / 2020/741).

On the other hand, we will present the tools that SUWANU EUROPE will make available to everyone, such as our virtual teaching platform. The objective is to train the different professionals in the regeneration sector with the practical knowledge acquired through the project. The platform will consist of four modules with specific audiovisual material for water treatment and regeneration professionals, the agri-food sector, the administration, consumers and the general public.

The event will be attended by recognized experts and professionals in the water and agriculture sector whom we have invited to share their experience in the use of reclaimed water. Check out the full programme.

The registration call is now open! Click here to register.
