Antonia María Lorenzo López

Degree in Agricultural Chemistry and specialist in engineering and environmental technology. She started managing international R&D projects more than 20 years ago at the Technology Transfer Center TTZ-Bremerhaven (Germany). She later returned to Spain and founded BIOAZUL in 2003 with the hope of promoting sustainability, environmental protection and efficient water management, from an inclusive approach. Likewise, she has been working for the European Commission since 2012 as an external expert and evaluator in several of its programs and has specialized in aspects related to R&D and Innovation projects results exploitation. 

She is always linked to water management, treatment and reuse projects, nature-based solutions, circular economy, nexus, among others; make it a benchmark in programs within the framework of the European Community included in the current Horizon Europe. One of her greatest personal motivations is to contribute to the resolution of social challenges, which has led her to be a member of different NGOs and president of the Rizoma Foundation and the Cluster of Solutions based on Nature created in Málaga, European Climate Pact Ambassador, always keeping an eye on attention to the citizen and pursuing a management of the territory that is friendlier to society. She is fond of mindfullnes and cooking. 

Pilar Zapata Aranda

MSc. in Biology and specialist in Organisms and Environmental Sciences. Since 2006, she has been devoted at BIOAZUL to what her vocation has always been: the care, preservation and protection of the environment. During all this time, she has acquired extensive experience in writing proposals, negotiation of grant agreements and coordination of R&D&I and International Cooperation projects in the framework of various European funding programs, focusing on thematic areas such as the water-energy-food-environment nexus (WEFE nexus), water treatment, reuse, and management, resource sustainability, and, above all, circular economy, key areas in projects of which she has been and/or is the coordinator, such as CisWEFE-NEX and Water2REturn. This knowledge has been reinforced with various specialisation courses in international technological cooperation programs, for which she was chosen by the Spanish Office for Science and Technology in Brussels (CDTI-SOST). Thanks to her experience, she has been selected by the European Commission as a proposal evaluator for several of its programs. She is also responsible for specific training in European funding programs offered by BIOAZUL. 

Her work amplified her interest in solving environmental problems, paying special attention to developing countries and focusing on Asia, and especially India, thanks to the coordination of projects such as PAVITR, NaWaTech, and ISSOWAMA. Conscientious, constant, and a lifelong learner, she considers herself an enthusiast of literature, music, and Asian culture. There will always be room for another plant at her home. 

Rafael Casielles Restoy

Chemical engineer and specialist in international cooperation for development. His concern has always been to improve the living conditions of people through a humanistic approach to technological development. For this reason, since 2008 he has guided his professional career in BIOAZUL to create a social and environmental awareness by carrying out projects that have a positive impact on society.

At BIOAZUL, he has specialized in the preparation and negotiation of R&D project proposals within the European Framework programs, mainly in programs focused on SMEs and cooperation projects. Part of his professional work has been in Africa, where he coordinated projects such as IWWA, CLARA or WATERBIOTECH and in the area of water management, focusing on the wastewater reuse leading projects such as SuWaNu, TREAT & USE, RichWater, SUWANU EUROPE and BONEX. He is considered a curious and enthusiastic person, always open to meet new people and cultures. He is passionate about photography and literature. 

Ana Belén Montosa

Multidisciplinary economist with a specialization in international relations and human resources management, with a global and strategic vision of the business environment. She possesses solid knowledge in economics, foreign trade, and labor legal frameworks. Her comprehensive approach enables her to act as a bridge between financial management, institutional relations, and human development within the organization. 

Her proactive and analytical attitude is reflected in her commitment to transparency, continuous improvement, and the pursuit of efficient optimization of both internal and external processes. She practices effective mediation between departments, facilitating strategic decision-making and fostering a culture of collaboration. 

Innovative and resourceful, with a visionary mindset yet firm in her convictions. She finds in arti in all its forms, cultural exchange, and the preservation of traditions that connect with authenticity, the fundamental pillars of her personal growth. Passionate about gastronomy and the world of wine. 

Ángela Magno Malagón

Graduated in Chemistry and in Food Science and Technology, Ángela has always sought to combine both disciplines by applying R&D&I to the agri-food and environmental sectors. She began her professional career in quality departments within the food industry, but in 2011 she found in BIOAZUL the ideal environment to bring together innovation, sustainability, and communication. Since then, she has contributed to numerous European projects focused on water circular economy, agri-food sustainability, and the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus, such as NanoBAK2, FRESH-DEMO, BONEX, and BOOST-IN—strengthening her profile in water management, technological innovation, and science communication. 

Passionate about science dissemination and strategic communication, she has expanded her expertise in both business and scientific marketing. At BIOAZUL, she leads the company’s communication and marketing strategy, enhancing the positioning of the company and its innovative solutions within the European landscape. She has designed and implemented communication and exploitation strategies, developed brand identities and visual narratives, coordinated high-impact events, and trained teams in innovation storytelling and effective communication. 

Curious, enthusiastic, and creative, Ángela values the opportunity to contribute to research and innovation that is socially engaged and committed to transitioning towards a more sustainable and resilient agri-food system. She is passionate about cinema, literature, and traveling—always drawn to destinations by the sea. 

Gerardo González Martín

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences and master’s degree in Urban Environmental Management from Wageningen University (the Netherlands). He has collaborated with international institutions such as Royal HaskoningDHV (the Netherlands), International Water Management Institute (IWMI) (Sri Lanka) and the EU Agency for the Space Programme (Czech Republic).  

Since he joined BIOAZUL in 2017, he has worked in national and EU projects on water treatment and reuse or implementation of nature-based solutions, such as P2GreeN, Vertical Ecosystem, CONNECTING Nature or UrBAN-WASTE and he has specialised in proposal preparation of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions. 

He is passionate about nature and dedicates great part of his free time to the NGO “AndaLimpia”. As co-founder, he collaborates in awareness raising campaigns on recycling and environmental protection and organises monthly clean-ups in beaches and countryside of Malaga. He enjoys travelling, historical novels, playing guitar and composting.   

David Salaberri Alcaraz

Graduated in Advertising and Public Relations, with a specialization in strategic communication and innovation. He began his professional career in the environmental sector as an intern, focusing on digital marketing and social media. He later expanded his experience in the financial and banking sector, taking on roles related to internal and strategic communication, brand development, and team training. 

Since 2018, he has been part of the BIOAZUL team, where he leads the company’s digital management, content creation, strategic communication planning, and brand identity development. He also coordinates and actively participates in events—one of his greatest passions. He has managed communication and dissemination for several European projects, including SUWANU EUROPE, Water2REturn, SOCRATCES, BONEX, and currently CARDIMED, which focuses on climate resilience in the Mediterranean. 

Enthusiastic, creative, and sociable, he sees his work at BIOAZUL as an opportunity to give visibility to innovations that contribute to a more efficient and environmentally responsible world. Exploring new countries, capturing moments through photography, and relaxing by the sea are some of his personal passions. 

Sara Hernández García

Licenciada en Biología continuó su formación con un Máster en Biodiversidad y Medio Ambiente, especializándose en Biogreografía y Medio Marino. 

Desde su incorporación a BIOAZUL en 2019, se ha especializado en escritura de propuestas y gestión de proyectos relacionados con Economía Circular, como U-ECO, InCEPPP y ECOPATH. Durante estos años ha gestionado también proyectos relacionados con la agricultura sostenible y desarrollo rural como Helpfood4.0, BOOST y RURACTIVE. También trabaja en RSE y elaboración de Informes de Sostenibilidad basados en los 10 principios del UNGC. La igualdad entre mujeres y hombres es uno de sus principales objetivos y eso le ha llevado a ocuparse de la aplicación de perspectiva de género en publicaciones y proyectos en la empresa. 

El resto de su tiempo le encanta cuidar sus plantas, dedicarse a cualquier actividad creativa y pasar tiempo en la naturaleza, sobre todo disfrutando del mar y a ser posible bajo el agua. 

Sarynel Lovera Casas

Con formación en Ingeniería Industrial y especializada como asistente de dirección, creció en Venezuela rodeada de un entorno natural privilegiado, lo que despertó desde temprana edad su compromiso con la conservación del medio ambiente. En la actualidad, desde su posición como administrativa, realiza el seguimiento de la trazabilidad económica de nuestros proyectos, una función clave que le permite contribuir activamente en la consecución de los objetivos que proponen estas soluciones innovadoras a los actuales problemas ambientales.  

Polivalente, ecléctica y de trato amable, entre sus principales intereses destacan el fútbol, la música, la fotografía deportiva y el diseño gráfico, con especial dedicación al uso creativo de herramientas como Canva. 

Álvaro García Gómez

Graduated in Geography and Territorial Management, and holding a master’s degree in water resources and Environment from the University of Málaga, he joined BIOAZUL in 2023. There, he commenced his professional career by assisting in European projects such as P2GreeN and BONEX, as well as regional initiatives like Axarquía Sostenible. 

Within BIOAZUL, he contributes to precision agriculture and the management of nutrient cycles in water, plants, and soil. His responsibilities encompass field experimentation, data analysis, the development of calculation models for water and nutrient management, and facility maintenance. 

His professional motivation stems from the conviction that it is possible to produce more and better food with a reduced environmental impact. In his leisure time, he enjoys learning languages, engaging in sports, and participating in outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and mountain biking. He holds a particular appreciation for nature and literature. 

Beatriz Rodríguez Pérez

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Master’s degree in the Planning and Management of Territorial and Local Development. She is currently writing her doctoral thesis in Geography, focusing on natural resources and the environment. 

 She has worked on national and international projects related to environmental sustainability, rural development, water governance, development cooperation, and the circular economy, contributing to technical analysis, management, and coordination tasks. Since 2024, she has worked as a project manager at BIOAZUL. She participates in European initiatives such as CHOICE and Kitchen Adventure, combining her technical expertise with communication, monitoring, organisational and coordination tasks with the relevant parties. 

She is committed to sustainable development from an integral perspective and particularly values working in collaborative environments and the exchange of knowledge between disciplines. She enjoys multicultural spaces and likes to spend time in nature, going for walks and hikes with her family. 

Clara González Varo

Graduated in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, she discovered a common thread in all her experiences: digital marketing, which led her to complete a master’s degree in the field. She has worked as a freelancer managing digital communication and brand strategy for various companies, gaining a practical, versatile, and results-oriented perspective. 

Since January 2025, she has been part of the BIOAZUL team, bringing her experience in digital environments. She implements communication strategies aligned with the company’s values of sustainability and innovation, and supports the team by managing and updating the BIOAZUL website as well as digital platforms for European projects such as BONEX. 

Creative, proactive, and committed to communication that connects people and ideas, she sees each new challenge as an opportunity to grow. 
Dance is her other great passion: for years she has immersed herself in the rhythms of salsa, bachata, and kizomba, a form of expression that allows her to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with the present moment. 

Sara Hernández García

With a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, she continued her training with a Master’s degree in Biodiversity and the Environment, specializing in Biogeography and the Marine Environment.  

Since joining BIOAZUL in 2019, she has specialized in proposal writing and management of projects related to Circular Economy, such as U-ECO, InCEPPP and ECOPATH. During these years she also managed projects related to sustainable agriculture and rural development such as Helpfood4.0, BOOST and RURACTIVE. Moreover, she works on CSR and preparation of Sustainability Reports based on the 10 principles of the UNGC. Equality between women and men is one of her main objectives and this has led her to deal with the application of a gender perspective in publications and projects in the company. 

The rest of his time she loves to take care of her garden, dedicate herself to any creative activity and spend time in nature, especially enjoying the sea and if possible underwater. 

Sarynel Lovera Casas

With a background in Industrial Engineering and specialized training as an executive assistant, she grew up in Venezuela surrounded by a privileged natural environment, which from an early age inspired her commitment to environmental conservation. Currently, in her role as an administrative professional, she is responsible for monitoring the financial traceability of our projects—a key task that allows her to actively contribute to achieving the goals proposed by these innovative solutions to today’s environmental challenges. 

Versatile, eclectic, and approachable, her main interests include football, music, sports photography, and graphic design, with a particular passion for creatively using tools such as Canva.
