Last Wednesday, June 2, 2021, the City Council of Alfafar with the support of the Finnova Foundation, organized within the framework of the European Green Week 2021 #EUGreenWeek the online workshop “EU Green and Sustainable Cities”, in their firm commitment are the 2030 Agenda of the European Union and with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically with SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
The European Green Week 2021 #EUGreenWeek, organized by the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission, will take place from May 31 to June 11, 2021 with the cross-cutting theme “Zero Pollution”. This annual event will feature online events in all EU member countries and is an opportunity to discuss European environmental policy.
As part of its commitment to the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, the City Council of Alfafar has adhered to the new Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy since 2016, a sign of its responsibility in the fight against climate change and in favor of of renewable energies. Last September, in addition, it approved its Action Plan for Sustainable Energy and Climate (PACES) in the municipal plenary session and carries out a constant effort to raise awareness among citizens of the environment.
From Bioazul we participated as speakers in the entrepreneurial block “Sustainability as an engine of change” where our CEO Antonia Lorenzo and Gerardo González, Bioazul project manager, presented the Connecting Nature project and its objective of promoting Nature-Based Solutions in the cities with the ultimate goal of positioning the European Union as a world leader in the design and implementation of this type of solution.
