Last March 8th and 9th, 2022 part of the Bioazul team attended to Meat Attraction, the international fair of the meat sector.

Meat Attraction has become a leading fair and a must for all operators in the meat sector; a backbone of activity and business opportunities and internationalisation for exhibitors, visitors and buyers. In the area of ANAFRIC, the Meat Business Association, we had an stand dedicated to our Water2Return project on recovering and recycling nutrients turning wastewater into added-value products for a circular economy in agriculture. The fair was attended for more of 9.000 profesionals so it was an opportunity for them to get to know the project up close.

Apart from the stand, we also organized the II Water2REturn Workshop Spain aimed for the meat industry sector. For that reason, Meat Attraction was the place chosen to celebrate this capacity building workshop.

The workshop took place during two days in order to reach more audience. Under the title “Circular economy in the meat industry“, the main objectives of this event were to introduce the W2R system and its first successful application in Matadero del Sur (Salteras, Seville) and promote and support the potential replication of W2R technologies in new slaughterhouses and/or meat processing industries.

The speakers of this workshop were Pilar Zapata, general coordinator of Water2REturn and project manager of Bioazul, who introduced the project to the attendees; Alejandro Caballero, director of engeneering at Bioazul, who presented the Water2REturn system and the main results of the project focused on the water line; and Marco de la Feld innovation manager of UECBV, who explained how Water2REturn can be useful to the slaughterhouses industry.
