PAVITR: Treatment and safe reuse of wastewater

VALIDATION AND MONITORING OF SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE SAFE TREATMENT AND REUSE OF WASTEWATER IN INDIA

Identify and form knowledge networks between Europe and India

Develop and implement efficient and sustainable solutions

Creation of different Research Groups

The PAVITR project will provide real solutions for water-related challenges in the Indian context. The core of PAVITR is an interdisciplinary group of universities, research centers, SMEs and non-governmental entities. The project aims to identify and form knowledge networks between Europe and India, specialized in technology transfer.

The main objective of this project is to validate, develop and implement efficient and sustainable solutions that face water challenges and thereby guarantee the reuse of water, ensure the quality of river water and restore degraded ecosystems in India. This will be achieved through the implementation of wastewater treatment technologies and the use of sensors for emerging and traditional contaminants.

At PAVITR, different research groups have been formed, each focused on the evaluation and improvement of a specific aspect of the entire system:

  • Water and Rainwater Research Group (WRW-RC).
  • Wastewater treatment research group (WWT-RC).
  • Strategy and Decision Making Research Group (SDM-RC).
  • High Resolution Management Research Group (HRM-RC).
  • Business Studies Research Group (BS-RC).

“An incentive has been received from the Agency for Innovation and Development of Andalusia IDEA, of the Andalusian Government, for an amount of 9,000 euros, 80% co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund, ERDF for the realization of the project Innovation and affordable solutions for water treatment and purification in India (702N1700023) with the aim of “Promoting technological development, innovation and quality research.”

OBJECTIVES

  • Development and validation of 16 innovative, adaptable and efficient wastewater treatment systems.

  • Production of marketable secondary raw materials (SRM), such as organic fertilizers and bio-stimulants.

  • Implement and demonstrate safe water reuse schemes.

  • Implementation of a cost-benefit analysis and life cycle analysis for the technologies and products developed.

  • Reduce the adverse effects of organic load discharges into the environment.

  • Provide evidence and legislative recommendations.

  • Improve acceptance by end users.

  • Promote wide and rapid market adoption of PAVITR systems and products through the implementation of specific and innovative business plans.
