2nd State Congress of Biosciences Students

On July 21, we attended the II State Congress of Biosciences Students, organized by the students of the University of Granada in collaboration with student volunteers from other universities in Spain.

The congress took place at the Faculty of Sciences of Granada and for four days more than 400 national and international attendees gathered, in addition to online followers since the event was broadcast live.

Apart from the different presentations that took place during the congress, the students were also able to enjoy the poster contest with more than 70 works and the thematic workshops that were organized.

Within this last section, the BIOAZUL marketing and communication team organized a workshop dedicated to citizen science and to present the InformPack project, as an example of active participation and communication to achieve sustainable changes. There our colleague David Salaberri gave an introduction to scientific communication and offered tools to carry out a good communication strategy for R+D+i projects. As an example of how to implement these strategies, he presented some of the projects in which we have been dissemination leaders such as Water2REturn, SUWANU EUROPE or BONEX.

On the other hand, our colleague Ángela Magno presented the InformPack project and the work that we are carrying out through surveys, workshops in schools and universities to achieve a change in public behavior that allows a transition towards a European packaging ecosystem for more sustainable food. Lastly, and to carry out a more interactive part of the workshop, she presented the Recycle Hero application. This is an online survey to find out what information the public has regarding the recycling of different containers, such as: biological origin, mixed containers, how the recycling process for plastic containers works, etc.

In general, the workshop was well received and the students were involved asking questions and even debating. For the BIOAZUL team it was a very gratifying experience to have been part of this congress and to make our small contribution to science.
