The events of our first quarter of 2021

During the first quarter of 2021 at Bioazul we have participated and organized different online events. Here is a summary of all of them:

27.01.21 KICK OFF MEETING OF THE INCEPPP PROJECT

On January 27 we attended the first consortium meeting of the InCEPPP project. This is our second Eramus+ project that aims to create and evaluate methodologies for the circular economy in public and private procurement. In this first meeting, the activities to be developed in this first part of the project were defined and it also served as a first contact with the rest of the partners.

03.02.21 COURSE ON EMPOWERMENT FOR CLIMATE RESILIENCE IN ANDALUSIA AND CENTRAL AMERICA

On February 3, Bioazul participated as a speaker in the course Empowerment for climate resilience in Andalusia and Central America from a gender perspective within the framework of a training project for development. Antonia Lorenzo and Gerardo González, representing Bioazul, gave a presentation on sustainable water management from a gender perspective, included in Module 2: Solutions: social innovation for the climate.

04.02.21 LIFEPureAgroH20 WEBINAR

On February 4 of this year, our colleague Rafael Casielles participated as a speaker in the webinar “Sustainable Water Management in the Food Industry: Problems and Challenges for the Future” where he presented our RichWater project as an innovative technology for the regeneration of water in agriculture.

This event was organized by the LIFEPureAgroH2O project consortium where the current challenges of the agri-food industry were addressed in its transition towards a circular economy model promoting an efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly use of water.

10.02.21 WEBINAR ON NBS FOR WATER MANAGEMENT

On February 10, the first webinar Nature-based solutions for water management: a private sector perspective took place, an event that Bioazul organized as leader of the “SbN Community for water management” within the Connecting Nature Enterprise Platform.

Gerardo González and Antonia Lorenzo were the ones who participated in this event, organized under the framework of the Connecting Nature project, which had around 80 participants.

16.02.21 CAJAMAR INNOVA WEBINAR

On February 16, Antonia Lorenzo participated in the Cajamar Innova webinar, an opportunity to undertake in the water sector, where she shared her experience as an entrepreneur in the water sector.

Cajamar Innova is the Incubator for High Technology Companies specialized in Technological Innovation and Sustainable Water Management of the Cajamar Foundation.

19.02.21 APRORED CONFERENCE

On February 19, Bioazul and the Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Malaga organized the 8th APRORED Conference: “Opportunities for European programs for economic recovery and local development in times of pandemic”.

Thanks to this event, we learned a little more about the work of development agencies, the Next Generation-EU recovery plan or how to get European funding for innovation projects.

02.03.21 KICK OFF MEETING OF EASYTRAIN PROJECT

On March 2, we attended the first meeting of the EASYTRAIN project, our new project dedicated to training researchers in the face of future challenges for fish farms. At this meeting, virtually all the partners were able to meet and define the first steps to be followed in this project.

03.02.21 WEBINAR WEPS – UN WOMEN NODRIC

On March 3, Antonia Lorenzo participated in the WEPs (Women Empowerment Principles) webinar, an event organized by the UN Women’s Liaison Office with the Nordic countries.

It was an event for startup students, where Antonia shared Bioazul’s experience working on the implementation of the Women’s Empowerment Principles and her work through the Gender Gap Analysis Tool.

05.03.21 THIRD GENERAL MEETING OF U-ECO

On March 5, the third general meeting of our U-ECO project on specific training in circular economy took place. Bioazul along with the rest of the project partners participated in this meeting to comment on the progress made so far and plan the activities of the latest intellectual product.

08.03.21 FEMALE LEADERSHIP VIRTUAL DAY

On March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, the Global Compact of United Nations organized the Conference on Female Leadership with the aim of highlighting the importance of women within the business sector and female leadership.

Antonia Lorenzo was one of the women business leaders selected to participate in this event where she shared how she has been the experience of working in the Target Gender Equality program of the Global Compact.

10.03.21 SMART CITY CLÚSTER WORKSHOP

On March 10, the Workshop on European Programs for economic recovery and local development took place, an event that we organized from Bioazul together with the Smart City Cluster.

Within this event, Gerardo González presented the Connecting Nature Platform for Companies Based on Nature and Antonia Lorenzo spoke about the opportunity that participation in European projects means for municipalities.

19.03.21 WATER AND AGROIFOOD WORKING GROUP MEETING

On March 19 the the Water and Agri-Food Working Group meeting of Water Europe was held, which is led by Bioazul.

Antonia Lorenzo and Rafael Casielles were those who participated in this meeting where the central point was to talk about the White Paper, the article on the European regulation on water reuse, and in which the partners that make up this group will work to identify barriers and propose strategies.

23-25.03.21 VIRTUAL CONNECTING NATURE INNOVATION SUMMIT

From March 23 to 26, the Innovation Summit took place, the international summit organized by the Connecting Nature project where the innovative tools and methods that are being developed within the project were shared.

Gerardo González participated as speakers on the first day in the session “Great climate challenge – how cities can adapt and innovate using nature-based solutions”.

25-26.03.21 THIRD INEXTVIR NETWORKING MEETING
On March 25 and 26, the third networking meeting of the INEXTVIR project on training doctoral students in the viroma sequencing of agricultural crops was held. At the meeting, the milestones achieved so far were shared and the next steps to be achieved were defined.

26.03.21 KICK OFF MEETING OF THE REMEDI PROJECT
On March 26 we attended the first meeting of the REMEDI project, our new Marie Curie European Industrial Doctorate (ITN-EID) project dedicated to training future professionals and researchers in the sustainable use of water in industry in the face of the challenges associated with contamination of the resource by pharmaceutical waste. At this meeting, virtually all the partners were able to meet and define the first steps to be followed in this project.
